Organization Validated certificates, or OV certificates, are a type of SSL technology that offers up to 256-bit encryption to websites of businesses and other registered organizations. The difference between OV certificates and domain validated (DV) certificates is that a little extra vetting is required to confirm that you not only own your domain but that your organization is also legit. But don't fret! So long as your business is registered, the validation process isn't a problem. In most cases, it only takes a couple of days and you'll be all set.

This type of SSL certificate will secure an organization’s domain but requires a CA to verify multiple details about the organization before issuance. Throughout the validation process an organization must prove they own the domain they are wishing to secure and that they are a legitimate business. To prove this they must verify specific details about the business including location and phone number.
Organization Validation certificates have a more in-depth verification process when compared to Domain Validation (DV) certificates. Organizations must prove they are a legitimate business and own the domain they are trying to secure whereas a DV SSL only requires proof of domain ownership. A DV certificate works for internal sites and test servers while OV certificates are a suitable option for public-facing websites that represent companies or organizations. A DV SSL can be issued in minutes but an OV SSL is typically issued within 1-3 business days. Both types provide the padlock in the address bar.
Multi-year plans provide instant savings and consistent coverage in a simplified, long-term solution. While you will have to reissue your certificate each year per industry standards, you're guaranteed the lowest price today, and locked in with coverage for multiple years.
Extended validation (EV) certificates ensure that the organization holding the certificate has gone through the most exhaustive level of identity background checks and vetting to verify that their website is authentic and legitimate.
Organizations that want to provide identity assurance and strong encryption to their customers and meet a standard of best security practices while transacting with customers’ financial data need to have an organization validated (OV) certificate. It is a mid-level certificate and best suited for businesses and organizations that want to prove trustworthiness on their website, such as public bodies, e-commerce, and intranet and extranet portals.
